A MESSAGE FROM CHRIS + SARAH

May 2023

Greetings!

It feels great to write this while looking out at an insanely beautiful spring morning. After a long, wet winter, a few days of 80-degree weather has the countryside exploding with new growth and it is stunning.

In the winery, we’ve been focused on creating the final blends for the multiple rounds of bottling we do every year. Harvest is hard work, but fun. Bottling is hard work, but not as fun. Lots of concentration and attention to detail is required while we work out all the logistics to make sure the wine is exactly how we want it before it goes through the bottling process. Glass, corks, labels, packing boxes, etc. must all be lined up for bottling day. We always breathe a sigh of relief when it’s over. (we’re almost there!)

In the marketplace, we’re excited to have a new distributor in Las Vegas (Budbreak) and were able to do a quick trip there in April. On your next trip to Vegas, make sure to seek out our wines at some of our new accounts — Jean-Georges, Guy Savoy, and the wonderfully glamourous Carbone in the ARIA. (Our friend Hristian Iliev is the Head Sommelier there, and he took us on a very fun and interesting wine journey when we came in to dine. Excited to have several of our wines on the list.) We’re also expanding our reach into the UK, specifically through our work with RH and their upcoming 73-acre shopping and hospitality experience in The Cotswolds, as well as several new countries in Europe through our new export partner (Aperture). Dreaming of a Europe trip one of these days…

Jane as Dorothy

Here at home, both kids have been busy rehearsing and performing a thoroughly entertaining school production of the Wizard of Oz, directed by the wonderful crew at The Raven Performing Arts Theater. Jane fulfilled a ten-year-old girl dream in playing the role of Dorothy (she did great!) and John Henry and his 7th grade friends had a little too much fun throwing apples at her in their roles as apple trees. Many friends and family have come from far and wide to see the show, and it’s been SO MUCH FUN. Also, Chris is coaching John Henry’s Little League team again this year. We love baseball in this family (it’s a genetic thing on both sides. We can’t fight it). We have to say, there’s not much we enjoy more than spending evenings watching games with friends at Healdsburg’s Drowty Field.

We hope you, too, are caught up in all the good things about spring. Thank you, as always, for your support. We appreciate each and every one of you.

Cheers,

Sarah and Chris
